Membership
Our members are extremely important and
help us accomplish our goals.
Membership to the Lac St-Pierre Association is essential to ensuring the ongoing health and vitality of our lake ecosystem for both its human and other-than-human inhabitants. The greater the number of members, the more dynamic and powerful the Association.
A diverse and robust membership helps strengthen our voice when speaking out on issues related to the protection or enhancement of the lake and its many assets.
With your support, the Association will continue to:
- Carry out water quality sampling as part of the water quality program;
- Meet regularly with municipal and other elected officials to make them aware of the realities of shoreline residents and share your concerns and possible measures to protect the lake;
- Help control the spread of invasive aquatic species already present (e.g. Eurasian watermilfoil, banded mystery snail), and prevent the introduction of others (e.g. zebra mussels), by lobbying for municipal by-laws that would make boat washing mandatory before having access to our lake or other lakes in our region;
- Facilitate communication between our lake's various frequenters: swimmers, canoeists, kayakers, motorised watercraft users etc. on best practices for safe and harmonious cohabitation;
- Provide information on relevant topics (e.g. lost pets, lost kayaks/canoes, boating safety), issues related to the lake's health (e.g. lakeshore erosion) and matters of concern (e.g. uncontrolled mining claims in Québec);
- Create a community that is engaged in issues affecting the health of the lake and the benefits it provides to its users;
We invite you to join our Association or renew your membership.
The work we do to maintain and protect the health of our lake is intimately tied to our quality of life and property values. Membership to the association represents a great return on investment ($40 for a year, $70 for two years or $350 for 10 years). From water testing to boating safety to leading the conversation on halting the spread of invasive aquatic species, the Lac St-Pierre Association’s efforts benefit us all.
WE NEED YOU! PLEASE JOIN US! Talk to your friends and neighbors and invite them to become members too. Together, we can work more effectively with allies and authorities to maintain our precious lake.
